In the last few weeks since I’ve been off blogosphere, I have had my competence as a teacher of God’s word question, my faith put under the microscope and I have been told in so many words that I have no right to teach on certain topics because I have no experience or certifications in that area.
in His usual no nonsense but very calm way, The Holy Spirit enabled me to answer the people who questioned my competence with a wisdom they could not refute.
To be honest however, for the first time, the questioning got to me. I started to doubt myself, doubt my competence and question my right to even teach God’s word.
If your jaw just dropped, pick it of the floor, I’m spiritual o but I’m still 100% human.
However God had me and he showed me something from a very common scripture. I don’t know how I never saw it considering how many times I quote the other half of that scripture in a week.
Read with me: ‘ He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.’ – 2 Corinthians 3:6
Can you see it yet?
Listen. It is God who makes you competent, not experience or certifications or tenure or the number of years you’ve been in church.
Your competence to be a minister of God in whatever capacity you have been called to serve is given to you by God and not any man, experience or tenure.
When next your competence is called into question based any of those flimsy grounds like lack of experience, remember to tell them and more importantly tell yourself that God has made you a competent minister of the new covenant.
Any person that has an issue with that should take it up with God.
Enough of second guessing my competence for God’s call.
Who’s with me?
